Some of my favorite include Trig, Cottesloe, Scarborough and Leighton beach! These four beaches are only a short drive from the city and area all stunning! The island is paved with riding trails that make accessing all of the secluded beaches easy and fun. Spend the day exploring the island, take a selfie with a quokka, enjoy a beach to yourself, snorkel the surrounding reefs, or simply sit back and enjoy a beer at the pub in town. Of all the things to do in Perth, this is my favorite and every time I head back to Perth for me involves a trip to Rottnest, either for the day or to stay a few nights. The walk is only 620 meters long but it offers a unique view that can’t be missed! Although Kings Park offers so many things to do, it is also a great place to do nothing.

Enjoy a quiet picnic with friends. Sit back, listen to the birds and just enjoy those amazing views, oh, and they are even better at sunset! So no matter what your interests, Kings Park should be on your list of things to do in Perth! The island offers a breathtaking 2km long boardwalk that takes you to interesting points on the island. These include the pelican nesting area and a 360-degree lookout! You can enjoy a picnic in the grass, swim at one of the beautiful turquoise bays, and let’s not forget about seeing the penguins! Penguin Island is home to 1200 Blue Penguins and although spotting them during the day can be hard, the island is also home to The Discovery Centre. The Discovery Centre is where injured or abandoned penguins live.

These penguins would not survive in the wild on their own so they cannot be released. For visitors, this is a great chance to get up close and personal during one of the three daily feedings!
